Manual Handling
Course Overview:
Under current legislation, all staff must be provided with training in safe manual handling techniques. This course will instruct participants how to carry out manual handling tasks correctly and therefore reduce the risk of back injury and other common manual handling related injuries.
Course Objectives:
On completion of this course participants will be able to:
Understand and apply the Eight Principles of Safe Lifting
Assess, lift and handle loads safely
Course Programme:
Current Legislation
Anatomy of the Spine & Musculoskeletal System
Injuries caused by poor handling techniques
Fitness, flexibility, and posture
Ergonomics
TILE Risk Assessment
Principles of Safe Lifting & Handling
Demonstration and Practice of various lifting techniques
Practical assessment of various lifting tasks
Assessment:
Participants are individually assessed on their practical lifting techniques
Certification:
Successful participants receive an Advanta Safety Manual Handling Certificate.
