Paediatric First Aid
Course Overview:
Our one-day Paediatric First Aid course is designed to give anyone caring for children and infants the skills, knowledge, and confidence to deal with the common medical emergencies that can arise. Also covered in the course is how to deal with life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrest and choking. The program is suitable for childcare workers, teachers, childminders, etc, or any parents or grandparents who wish to learn basic first aid skills.
We run regular public courses or alternatively, the course can be delivered onsite for groups.
Course Objectives:
On completion of this course participants will:
Be able to assess a pediatric patient who is ill or injured
Be capable of identifying common medical conditions and treating accordingly
Be able to recognize and provide immediate treatment for life-threatening conditions
Know how to react in an emergency situation
Course Programme:
Scene Safety & Infection Control.
How to react in an emergency situation.
Calling emergency services.
Pediatric Patient Assessment.
Dealing with an unconscious child or infant.
Cardiac Arrest: CPR for Adults, Children & Infants.
Respiratory Emergencies: Asthma, Choking.
Medical conditions: Febrile Seizure, Epilepsy, Diabetes, Meningitis.
Wounds & Bleeding.
Fractures, Sprains & Strains.
Burns & Scalds.
Poisoning.

Assessment:
There is no formal assessment as part of this program.
Certification:
Successful participants receive an Advanta Safety Paediatric First Aid Certificate which is valid for 2 years
